All my lamp work beads are made using Italian Effetre glass rods. The end of a rod is melted using a special lampwork burner which uses a mixture of oxygen and propane gas to produce a hot flame. The molten glass is carefully wound around a steel rod which has been initially dipped in a special mixture to avoid the molten glass sticking. I then may use a variety of molten glass colours and add silver or crushed glass to.produce a selection of patterns and designs.
